As part of redesigning pedagogical learning tools, the INPT courses are incorporating more and more practical projects to be implemented by students as part of “learning by doing” approach. In this sense, our students work on a set of technologies and software and hardware laboratories in order to carry out concrete projects with added value.
These projects are carried out in an academic, professional but also entrepreneurial context meeting the needs of organizations and companies.
Project 1: "Design and Development of a Civil Protection Management System"
Areas of Expertise: Software Engineering
The aim of the project is to develop an incident management system for civil protection. It was developed by students of the new program "Advanced Software Engineering for Digital Services (ASEDS)" as part of the two courses "Getting Started Project" and "Change In Conduct".
This protection system consists of managing incidents, allocating resources per incident, locating it and involving the barracks teams available and nearby.
This project was submitted to civil protection officials in order to concretize its deployment.
Project 2: “Machine Learning in the 5G-Era Wireless Communications (Applications of Machine Learning in 5G Mobile Networks)”
Areas of Expertise: Telecom & Mobile Networks (5G +, 5G, 4G,…), Big Data (Machine Learning), Internet of Things (IoT)
The goal of this project is to give students the opportunity to apply and extend their knowledge on planning and optimization approaches for mobile networks to the next generation (5G), by contrasting the traditional methods adopted by operators. (3G, 4G) with the new Big Data technological trends adopting Machine Learning, and applying them to new contexts (drone networks, Internet of Things (IoT), etc.).
Thanks to this project, the students also have the possibility to take charge of computer languages and adapted deployment platforms (Python, Matlab, TensorFlow,…).
Project 3: “5G Open Air Interface (Open Source Platform 5G — OAI)”
Areas of Expertise: Telecoms & Mobile Networks (5G +, 5G, 4G,…), Software Engineering.
The Open Air Interface (OAI) is an open source platform for full software implementation of terminals, base stations and the core network of a mobile network. The objective of this project is to allow students to emulate a mobile network (4G / 5G), test their understanding of architecture and protocols in a realistic and practical context, and discover new trends in 5G mobile networks (5G-NR, SDN, NFV,…).
It is also a practical chance to complete their training by opening up to related aspects (open hardware / USRP, system administration, Unix / Linux, C / C ++, ...).
Project 4: "Artificial Intelligence (AI) —Based Access in Smart City Contexts (Applications of Artificial Intelligence in the digital transformation of cities - Smart Cities)"
Areas of Expertise: Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Big Data (Machine Learning & Deep Learning), Cloud Computing, Intelligent Systems
In this project, students design and implement connectivity and mobility management solutions for the city of the future (on a reduced scale in INPT premises).
By taking over Machine / Deep Learning tools, building access control is both streamlined and secure by an intelligent facial recognition and identification system, in addition to centralized tracking (in the cloud) mobility and resource use.
The project allows students to develop their software and hardware skills (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, OpenCV, Android / iOS mobile development, etc.).
Project 5: "VELTOUT"
Area of Expertise: Embedded Electronic Systems and Digital Services, Internet of Things (IoT)
The objective of the project is to set up an intelligent rental service for bikes.
Project 6: "Postman-Robot"
Area of Expertise: Embedded Electronic Systems and Digital Services, Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The objective of the project is to design and set up a robot to serve as a messenger within a company.
Project 7: "System of Absence Control"
Area of Expertise: Embedded Electronic Systems and Digital Services
The objective of the project is to develop an absenteeism monitoring system, within schools and companies, based on fingerprints validation.
Project 8: "Smart Classification System"
Area of Expertise: Embedded Electronic Systems and Digital Services
The objective of the project is to set up an intelligent sorting service for objects.
This project led by our students obtained the 1st price of the “Digital Trust “competition during the Scientific Event on IT (SEIT) 2019.
Project 9: "INPT Smart MicroGrid"
Area of Expertise: Intelligent Systems and Networks
This project aims to set up the first operational installation of a smart MicroGrid at a university or a school. It consists of developing an intelligent electrical network that through distributing network, solar panels, storage batteries, and a centralized intelligent controller.
